KAMILLE CATALA
Dublin, Ireland
Kamille Catala is an oil painter from Davie, Florida and living in Dublin, Ireland who explores the juxtaposition of an expected familiar world with unique components that add an element of surprise to the viewer, which is achieved by use of unique color and linework, often also referencing typical impressionism characteristics. Central to her process is the use of personal photo references captured with analog cameras - these photos allow her to create unique and evocative compositions from the very beginning of her creative process. Her use of bright color bases with more traditional layering on top provides a unique perspective for the viewer to experience in colorful realism.
- How would you describe the art that you create?
“The work I create is aimed to show viewers something they have not seen before. I love using a sense of realism in my works that is an anchor for viewers but adding unique elements like color to alter what is being seen. I would describe my work as colorful realism.”
